Free maps for your Garmin outdoor GPS

For my starting geocaching adventure I bought a Garmin Etrex 20 GPS. The only map it has on board is a demo and only shows major roads. So I needed a topografic map with all the streets and cart-tracks for easier navigation to the several caches.

After some Googling, I found the solution for free: OpenStreetMap for Garmin devices.

You can download there the maps for BaseCamp or generic maps you can install directly on to your device

Update 25/11/18:

I recently upgraded to an etrex 25t, but the pre installed maps gave an error while trying to update them, so I looked for a temporary solution for having up to date maps until I get this problem sorted with Garmin customers service

Verficatie in 2 stappen voor Google

Juist de 2 way verification voor Google ingesteld en het werkt heel goed. Dit vind je terug in Account – Beveiliging – Verificatie in 2 stappen.
Je persoonlijke computers kun je bij een verificatie toevoegen aan een lijst met vertrouwde computers en moet je de verificatie maar 1 keer doen. Nu kan je terug met enkel je paswoord inloggen op www.google.com.

Op openbare computers zal je elke keer je wilt inloggen een sms toegestuurd krijgen op je mobiele telefoon, welke een verificatiecode bevat die je samen met je wachtwoord moet ingeven.
Nu heeft Google ook een app voor Iphone en android uitgebracht: Google authenticator. Dit maakt zelf verificatie codes aan zonder internet of netwerk verbinding. Voor Iphone kun je de app hier downloaden.

Voor programma’s op je desktop die je google account benaderen heb je applicatiespecifieke wachtwoorden nodig. Daar geef je de naam in en genereer je een paswoord. Dit verkregen paswoord gebruik je nu in combinatie met je gebruikersnaam in bv je e-mail programma.
Voor Iphone en Ipad moet je dit ook doen voor mail en voor ical indien je je google agenda synchroniseerd.

Unlock sim locked Iphone.

Today someone asked me if it’s possible to unlock an Iphone he got during a trip to the United States.

So I searched the net and arrived on this site http://letsunlockiphone5.com. For AT&T it’s only 11$, so the need for a jailbreak is obsolete.
The other advantage is that you can normally update your iPhone without losing jailbreak and unlock.

First I propose to do an IMEI check, then you’re sure  on which network the Iphone is simlocked.
Afterwards you choose the appropriate option for your case and wait for the confirmation mail that your device is unlocked. What you have to do is also described in that mail.

  1. Download and install latest version of iTunes.
  2. Now insert SIM card of unsupported network (your local SIM card)and connect your device to the computer.
  3. Wait until iTunes detects iPhone. (Here the Iphone gave activation required, thus disconnected the cable from the pc like described in step 4)
  4. Now disconnect iPhone and reconnect after 10 seconds
  5. After you do it, you will see the congratulation message that your Phone is Unlocked.
